Drama Teacher – Extracurricular (Secondary)

About the role

The school seeks a dynamic Drama Teacher to lead its extracurricular programme for secondary students (ages 11+). The role focuses on nurturing creative expression, acting techniques, and confidence while supporting the wider performing‑arts agenda, including the school’s musical productions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality drama lessons aligned with a structured scheme of work.
• Design activities covering improvisation, voice development, acting techniques and performance skills.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages participation.
• Prepare students for showcases through rehearsals and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain detailed records of lesson plans, student progress and targets.
• Use school technology tools to communicate regularly with families and staff.
• Organise, coordinate and supervise drama productions, including script work, casting and rehearsals.
• Collaborate with colleagues on the school’s musical production programme.
• Undertake any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Recognised drama‑teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching drama to secondary students to a high standard.
• Understanding of voice development and performance techniques.
• Commitment to child‑protection guidelines and professional boundaries.
• Awareness of diversity, inclusion and anti‑discrimination principles.
