About the role
The Non-Member State Postdoc Fellowship Programme in Theoretical Physics offers two annual fellowships at CERN. Fellows work on cutting‑edge theoretical research for a period of two years, with a possible extension to a third year.
Required profile
- Must not be a national of a CERN Member State or Associated Member State.
- Hold a PhD (or have a defended PhD scheduled) in theoretical physics, completed before the start date.
- Have no more than six years of research experience after the PhD.
- CERN staff members are ineligible.
What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract of 24 months, extendable to 36 months.
- Monthly stipend ranging from 6,911 to 7,326 CHF (net of tax).
- Comprehensive health coverage for the fellow and family, plus pension fund membership.
- Installation grant, family and child allowances, and travel expenses to Geneva where applicable.
- 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
