Editorial and AI Communications Intern

About the role

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is seeking a motivated Editorial and AI Communications Intern to join the Office of the Secretary‑General in Geneva. This full‑time, unpaid internship runs for three months starting 1 December 2026 and offers hands‑on experience in producing editorial content on trade and development topics.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit and adapt web stories, explainers, social‑media copy, newsletters and other editorial products.
• Enhance clarity, structure, headlines and navigation while maintaining UNCTAD’s neutral editorial voice.
• Prepare content that is easily understood by readers and optimised for AI‑driven search and answer systems, including precise headings, contextual explanations, credible sources and structured metadata.
• Research emerging practices in generative AI and AI‑assisted communication tools.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree programme.
• Available to work five days a week (40 hours) on‑site in Geneva.
• Valid visa for Switzerland; all travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses are self‑funded.
• Ability to submit a complete online application including a cover note and Personal History Profile with references.
