EMEA Ocean Freight Transportation Manager

About the role

3M is hiring an EMEA Ocean Freight Transportation Manager in Langenthal, Switzerland. The role leads ocean transportation operations, carrier performance management, network optimization and strategic freight governance across the EMEA region, driving regional and global ocean transportation strategies and improving service, cost and compliance performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end ocean transportation execution across EMEA, manage escalations, urgent deliveries and carrier release issues, and ensure routing guide compliance.
• Support deployment and stabilization of strategic initiatives such as Ocean RFQs and RFPs, and lead continuous improvement in cost, service reliability and efficiency.
• Lead carrier performance reviews and governance, including carrier scorecards, SLAs and service expectations, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for underperforming carriers and lanes.
• Partner with Sourcing on carrier strategy, rate negotiations and service optimization.
• Improve transit-on-time performance, reduce lead times through port and inland dwell optimization, and cut demurrage and detention costs.
• Maintain KPI dashboards and turn regulatory requirements into practical guidance and learning content, promoting a culture of compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain or ocean freight operations.
• Proven experience managing carriers, transportation performance and regional logistics programs.
• Experience supporting sourcing activities, transportation bids and carrier negotiations.

• Ocean freight transportation management and carrier relationship management.
• Strategic sourcing collaboration and transportation analytics and KPI management.
• Continuous improvement, project and change management, stakeholder management and executive communication.
