ESG Digitalization Intern – Software & Data Engineering

About the role

Sika, a specialty chemicals company active in the building and industrial manufacturing sectors, is looking for an ESG Digitalization Intern in Zürich/Altstetten. The intern supports the ESG Controlling Team on its digitalization and automation journey, building and maintaining applications and data pipelines that enable automated, scalable ESG reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain web applications, covering front-end and back-end development, from specification through deployment
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and contribute to the full software lifecycle
• Nice to have: support CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment (e.g. GitHub Actions, Terraform)
• Nice to have: develop and maintain data pipelines and workflows in Databricks for ESG reporting, including data ingestion, transformation and modelling

Required profile

• Experience with modern web technologies and frameworks (Node.js, Next.js, React) and JavaScript or TypeScript
• Understanding of databases and SQL
• Willingness to learn, proactive and problem-solving approach
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• English required; German or Spanish is a plus

Required skills

• Nice to have: CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tools such as GitHub Actions, Bicep and Terraform
• Nice to have: Databricks, data engineering, Python and analytics workflows
• Nice to have: PowerBI, basic API design principles, data modelling and dbt
