Financial Accounting Expert (1 Year Contract)

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for a Financial Accounting Expert for a 1-year contract in its Intra-Group Retrocession (IGR) and External Retrocession team in Zurich. You will help produce local and group-wide financial statements while supporting continuous improvement and simplification of processes. The team sits within Global Finance Operations & Transformation, which covers Group IFRS reporting, statutory statements and Solvency II, with a strong focus on IFRS 17.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of ad hoc retro transactions using coding solutions, advanced analytics and AI techniques.
• Maintain and enhance analytical solutions and codebases (e.g. Python) so they are robust, scalable and aligned with business needs.
• Validate, analyse and explain financial results, acting as the main contact for questions on internal and external retrocession reporting.
• Contribute to the timely and accurate quarterly production of financial statements for IGR and external retrocession.
• Support transformation projects and strengthen governance, controls and process transparency.

Required profile

• 2-5 years of experience with a primary or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in economics, data analysis, finance or a related quantitative field.
• Proactive, adaptable and independent, with good problem-solving and communication skills.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is a must.
• Nice to have: understanding of IFRS 17 in practice.

Required skills

• Strong coding knowledge, including maintaining and debugging complex codebases such as Python.
• Data analytics skills and understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
• Interest in quarterly closing and willingness to learn systems such as SAP, FPSL and LFD.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
