Financial Accounting Intra Group Retrocessions Intern (80-100%)

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for an intern in its Intra-Group Retrocession (IGR) and External Retrocession team in Zurich. The role offers hands-on experience in financial accounting and reporting within a leading global reinsurance company, with collaboration across Finance, IT and Risk Management. It suits someone who thrives in an international, interdisciplinary and fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Apply advanced data analysis and AI techniques to support IGR processes and manage external retrocession activities
• Maintain and evolve code scripts (e.g. Python) so they are robust, scalable and aligned with analytical and operational needs
• Validate and analyse produced figures and act as main contact for questions on the financial results of internal and external retrocession
• Contribute to the quarterly production of financial statements for IGR and external retrocession
• Support initiatives and projects related to the financial reporting landscape

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a bachelor's or master's degree in data analysis, economics, finance or a related quantitative field
• Proactive, adaptable, independent and a team player, with a passion for continuous improvement
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Non-EU/EFTA and UK citizens must provide a university certificate stating that the internship is part of their studies

Required skills

• Strong data analytics knowledge and ability to interpret complex datasets
• Interest in quarterly closing and financial reporting
• Willingness to learn SAP, FPSL and LFD systems
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Nice to have: Python coding, basic understanding of financial statements and IFRS 17
