Financial Business Controller - Freight Forwarding & Logistics

About the role

MSC Technology Italy, the technology division of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, is looking for an experienced Financial Business Controller to join its Finance organization. The role reports to the Deputy CFO and Senior Financial Director and supports financial performance, business development and controlling across international logistics operations. It works closely with regional CFOs, Finance teams, Business Leaders and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate financial controlling activities across regional teams and local agencies, aligned with corporate financial objectives.
• Act as a financial business partner to regional CFOs, Finance teams and Business Leaders, supporting strategic decisions and operational performance.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying ways to improve profitability and efficiency.
• Support local agencies in building their financial capabilities and aligning financial management with business development goals.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders across regions, ensuring transparency and alignment between local and central Finance functions.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and performance monitoring, giving actionable insights.
• Support the development of Finance professionals and emerging talent.
• Identify financial and operational risks and promote financial best practices and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Solid experience in Financial Controlling, Business Controlling or Finance Business Partnering roles in large international organizations.
• Strong background in logistics and freight forwarding, ideally in leading international freight forwarders or MSC competitors.
• Knowledge of last-mile logistics operations, their business models and financial drivers.
• Experience with regional Finance organizations, local agencies and multiple CFOs or senior financial stakeholders.
• Excellent written and spoken English; able to work in complex, multicultural and geographically distributed settings.
