General Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a General Counsel to lead and expand the legal and compliance function of a fast‑growing biotech company in Basel. This senior position reports directly to senior management and plays a pivotal role in supporting the company’s strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and further develop the legal and compliance function within an international, innovation‑driven biotech environment.
• Act as a strategic legal advisor to senior management, supporting R&D collaborations, commercial partnerships and international expansion projects.
• Oversee a broad range of legal, governance and compliance matters, ensuring pragmatic, business‑oriented risk management.
• Support and supervise external counsel and internal stakeholders on corporate, regulatory, contractual and operational legal topics.
• Develop scalable legal and compliance processes, policies and structures to accommodate growth and evolving regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Swiss‑qualified lawyer with significant post‑qualification experience, preferably in both private practice and in‑house roles within life sciences, biotech or related regulated industries.
• Broad legal generalist background with strong commercial judgment and experience supporting strategic business projects in dynamic environments.
• Proven ability to build and manage legal/compliance structures in a hands‑on, solution‑oriented manner.
• Strong stakeholder‑management skills, capable of partnering effectively with senior leadership, scientific teams and cross‑functional business units.
