Global Medical Science Leader – Infectious Disease

About the role

Roche is seeking a Global Medical Science Leader to shape the development, launch and patient access of innovative antibiotics worldwide. This senior position combines scientific expertise with strategic leadership to influence medical practice and health‑care ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver integrated evidence generation plans, including clinical studies, real‑world data projects and scientific collaborations.
• Build and maintain trusted partnerships with global medical leaders, patient organisations, payers and public‑private health institutions such as WHO and the Gates Foundation.
• Guide market‑access strategies by translating clinical and ecosystem insights into value‑driven solutions.
• Represent Roche globally, sharing thought leadership and scientific insights with the wider medical community.

Required profile

• PhD or MD in Medicine, Life Sciences or a related field.
• At least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs combined with hands‑on clinical hospital experience (e.g., ICU, infectious diseases).
• Deep expertise in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance and related respiratory conditions.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional, matrixed teams across diverse geographies.

Required skills

• Evidence generation strategy using Real‑World Data (RWD) and clinical study design.
• Stakeholder engagement with multidisciplinary specialists, hospital pharmacists and global health bodies.
• Fluent English communication; additional languages are a plus.
