Graduate Trainee – Commodity Operations & Trade Finance

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Graduate Trainee to join our Swiss office and gain hands‑on experience across the full commodity trading lifecycle. The role focuses on trade finance execution, operational support, cash‑flow coordination and international commodity transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Support execution and monitoring of trade finance transactions, including preparation of Letters of Credit, CAD documentation and bank presentations.
• Coordinate documentary collections, payment processes and monitor banking facility availability.
• Assist with borrowing‑base and working‑capital reporting, and ensure timely issuance of shipping and trade documents.
• Support operational execution of physical commodity contracts by liaising with logistics providers, warehouses, inspection companies and shipping agents.
• Track shipment schedules, invoices and maintain accurate records in internal systems and ERP platforms.
• Monitor daily cash flow, coordinate trade‑related payments with Treasury and Finance teams, and assist with bank reconciliations.
• Conduct KYC and onboarding checks for suppliers, customers, banks and brokers, and support compliance with internal controls and regulatory obligations.
• Prepare trade profitability and operational reports, and assist with budgeting, forecasting and audit‑ready documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, International Trade or a related field.
• Previous internship exposure to commodity trading, banking, trade finance, logistics or treasury is advantageous.
• Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
