Grains Operator

About the role

The Grains Operator will manage daily grain shipments and ensure that both physical and financial strategies are accurately reflected in Olam Agri’s systems. You will act as a key liaison between trade, treasury, and operations, providing timely information to senior managers.

Key responsibilities

• Execute bulk grain shipments (maize, wheat, barley, soybeans) on FOB, CNF, and CIF terms from start to finish.
• Handle daily review, reconciliation, and reporting of physical positions.
• Maintain Olam Agri’s systems with up‑to‑date physical positions, costs, budgets, freight rates, trade prices and financial strategies.
• Manage cargo insurance terms, claims and ensure compliance with sanctions and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with Treasury and banks for collections, letters of credit, and post‑fixture operations.
• Understand vessel chartering, laycans and post‑fixture logistics.
• Identify optimisation opportunities for cargo lifts, laycans, load dates and rolling hedges.
• Support team members and provide operational updates to the Reporting Manager.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience with a major commodity trading company in grains.
• Proven experience with trade documentation and dry bulk vessel operations.
• Hands‑on experience linking futures hedges and currency covers to physical contracts.
• Knowledge of demurrage/dispatch calculations and cargo insurance handling.
• Fluent in English and French; Russian is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field; MBA/Master’s preferred.
