Head Accountant – Accounting & HR Administration Lead

About the role

We are an internationally active trading company in the food industry seeking a seasoned professional to lead our accounting and HR administration functions. This senior position combines financial stewardship with payroll and insurance management, offering a unique blend of responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general financial accounting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and VAT returns for Switzerland and the EU.
• Oversee HR administration tasks such as payroll processing and insurance management.
• Analyse accounting workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and support management in optimizing processes.
• Work independently and reliably, ensuring accuracy and compliance across finance and HR functions.

Required profile

• Commercial background with specialist further education in finance and accounting (Swiss federal diploma preferred).
• 10+ years of professional experience in a comparable environment.
• High degree of independence, analytical mindset, reliability, and discretion.
• Strong commitment, hands‑on attitude, and excellent written and spoken German and English.

Required skills

• Proficient in Topal accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
