About the role
The Head of Controlling & Risk leads a multidisciplinary team of about 20 professionals, ensuring that credit, market, liquidity, operational and regulatory risks are identified, monitored and reported in line with the Board‑defined risk appetite. The role also oversees the internal control framework across the Group.
Key responsibilities
- Define department priorities, operating model and allocate resources while coaching managers and teams.
- Produce and present risk reports for the Risk Committee, Executive Management and the Board, escalating material risk developments and remediation actions.
- Maintain and improve risk management and internal control frameworks, including policies, methodologies, risk taxonomy and reporting standards.
- Oversee credit, market and liquidity risk areas such as concentration analysis, limit monitoring, stress testing, RWA, capital and liquidity planning.
- Supervise operational risk identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting, coordinating RCSA, KRIs, incidents and action management.
- Manage reconciliation of cash, securities and cryptocurrencies with external counterparties, ensuring timely escalation of discrepancies.
- Liaise with FINMA, SIX and other regulators, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in a relevant field; professional risk or finance qualification (e.g., FRM, PRM, CIA, CRMA, CISA, CFA) strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in banking or financial services, with responsibility for multiple risk disciplines.
- Broad expertise in credit, market, liquidity and operational risk within a banking environment.
- Deep knowledge of Swiss banking regulation, FINMA expectations and Basel standards.
- Strategic thinking, strong business judgement and the ability to balance risk with growth.
Required skills
- FRM, PRM, CIA, CRMA, CISA, CFA certifications.
- Experience with GRC platforms, RCSA, KRI and incident‑management workflows.
- Quantitative/model risk analysis and stress‑testing expertise.
- Data science, AI and automation applied to risk monitoring and reporting.
- Understanding of ICT, cyber and data‑security risks.
