Head of Internal Audit – Director

About the role

As the Head of Internal Audit you will lead Swissquote’s independent internal audit function, reporting directly to the Board of Directors and its Audit & Risk Committee. You will be responsible for building the function from the ground up as the bank transitions to a higher regulatory category, ensuring compliance with FINMA requirements and delivering strategic assurance on governance, risk and control frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the internal audit strategy, methodology and multi‑year audit plan aligned with the bank’s risk profile and regulatory expectations.
• Lead the internalisation of the audit function, establishing governance, charter, tools, audit universe and overseeing the transition from the external provider.
• Provide independent assurance to the Board and senior management on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls.
• Maintain constructive relationships with FINMA, external auditors and other regulatory stakeholders, ensuring readiness for supervisory reviews.
• Ensure comprehensive coverage of IT architecture, cybersecurity, data management and emerging technologies, including AI governance.
• Build, lead and develop a high‑performing internal audit team, fostering a culture of professional scepticism and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• AI fluency with ability to assess and challenge AI‑generated outputs.
• Strong data analytics capabilities for audit automation and insight generation.
• Expertise in IT audit, including cybersecurity, identity and access management, and technology resilience.
