Head of Finance

About the role

Adaptyv is building the world’s most automated biology lab, where AI agents design experiments and a software‑driven stack runs them. As the first finance hire, you will create an AI‑powered finance stack that automates forecasting, closing, cash management and margin analysis, allowing the team to focus on strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the financial forecast, combining bottom‑up lab capacity models with top‑down P&L, burn and runway projections.
• Calculate gross margin by tracking the true cost of each experiment (DNA, reagents, consumables, instrument time, labour).
• Partner with commercial teams on pricing strategy and floor pricing.
• Lead month‑end close, group consolidation and inter‑company accounting across two entities.
• Manage cash flow, bank and card accounts in Switzerland and the US, AP runs and AR collection.
• Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, audit, payroll and coordinate with external advisors.

Required profile

• First finance hire in a fast‑growing biotech/AI startup.
• Hands‑on experience with full‑cycle finance, forecasting, close and cash management.
• Ability to translate complex lab operations into financial models.
• Strong analytical mindset and comfort working with APIs and automated workflows.
