Head of Group External Communications

About the role

As Head of Group External Communications at Julius Baer, you will lead the bank’s external media strategy, protect its reputation and support its strategic positioning through proactive engagement with top‑tier journalists and financial media.

Key responsibilities

• Create and execute a comprehensive media strategy aligned with the bank’s overall positioning.
• Build and nurture relationships with Swiss and international journalists, influencers and press outlets.
• Support financial calendar communications, including results releases, AGM and ad‑hoc announcements.
• Lead issue‑management response and act as a primary spokesperson when needed.
• Oversee content creation such as press releases, talking points and position papers.
• Mentor and manage an international team of media professionals while collaborating with Investor Relations, Finance, Legal and Regulatory.
• Monitor media coverage and analyse sentiment to inform strategy.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in public or media relations, preferably in wealth management or banking.
• Proven track record of securing high‑impact coverage and handling issues management.
• Strong analytical judgment and ability to assess risk and opportunity.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and collaborate across functions.
