Head of S&C Planning & Material Management

About the role

Roche is looking for a Head of Sensors & Cartridges (S&C) Planning and Material Management to lead its global S&C manufacturing network. The role drives operational excellence and strategic leadership, guiding a network of leaders and taking direct responsibility for purchasing, production planning, master data management, product launch management and global logistics and warehousing. The primary location is Rotkreuz.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and communicate a vision aligned with S&C strategic priorities, partnering with Procurement, Global Supply Chain and R&D to optimise the end-to-end supply chain from sales planning to customer delivery.
• Lead cross-functional operations planning, operational purchasing, production planning and internal logistics, including inbound/outbound processes, inventory optimisation and supply monitoring.
• Advance operational procurement and supplier integration, oversee long-term capacity planning across the S&C network and drive process improvements.
• Ensure smooth material handling for receiving, inventory management and outbound distribution to hubs, and oversee master data governance and first-level SAP IT support for the S&C organisation.
• Drive early supply chain involvement in product launches and transfers to optimise total cost of ownership.
• Adopt new technologies and use data analytics to improve network flexibility, scalability and resilience, and set performance metrics and KPIs to manage risks proactively.
• Champion operational excellence and sustainability, ensure compliance with global trade regulations, customs requirements, internal policies and GMP standards, and report strategy and results to executive leadership.

Required profile

• Masters degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Life Sciences or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as CSCP or CPSM are a plus.
• 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing complex operations.
• Proven track record managing, developing and inspiring international teams across purchasing, network planning and global trade.
• Fluency in English with strong intercultural communication skills and willingness to travel globally.
