Head of User Experience, OpenBlue

About the role

OpenBlue is a digital portfolio of cloud-native software for smart buildings, and this role leads its user experience and design team. It combines leadership across the full portfolio with hands-on design, bringing customers, Product Management, AI and Engineering together to turn complex building challenges into clear, connected experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Define the UX vision and roadmap across the portfolio, connecting customer needs with product and business priorities.
• Lead, coach and develop a UX/UI team, setting clear priorities and high design standards.
• Take an active, hands-on role in shaping concepts, from early exploration through detailed interaction and interface design.
• Create user flows, wireframes, journey maps and prototypes, and partner with customers, Product Management, AI and Engineering to test assumptions and refine solutions.
• Build and evolve shared design patterns and a scalable design system, and embed usability testing and customer feedback into development.
• Work with Engineering on technical constraints and feasibility, and collaborate with global teams across multiple timezones.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years in UX or product design, with a portfolio showing contributions to complex software products and their outcomes.
• At least 3 years of experience leading a team of UX and design professionals.
• Proven experience working directly with customers and communicating across Engineering, Product, AI and executive levels.
• Clear understanding of how UX ties into revenue and retention, and ability to defend design investments with metrics.
• Background in browser-based and mobile SaaS products; experience with AI tools to generate designs and experiences.
• Familiarity with standards such as WCAG, accessibility conformance reporting and inclusive design.
• Comfortable collaborating with teams globally; smart-building experience is preferred but not essential.
