Human Rights Social Media Intern (Public Information)

About the role

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a Public Information intern in Geneva to support its work on human rights protection, empowerment and accountability. The internship is unpaid and full-time, lasting about three months and extendable to six months, starting between January and July 2026. It is open to students from diverse academic backgrounds.

Key responsibilities

• Support OHCHR in protecting human rights for all people, helping people realise their rights and assisting those responsible for upholding them.
• Research current human rights issues to aid communication and public information outreach.
• Report to the Unit head under the overall guidance of the Chief of Section.

Required profile

• Student in the final year of a bachelor's, master's or PhD programme, or holder of a completed degree; proof of status is requested with the application.
• No work experience required.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is an asset, and another UN official language is an advantage.
• Interest in the work of the United Nations and ability to interact respectfully with people of different cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Ability to create video or graphic design items for social media posts.
