Internal Auditor – Commodity Trading

About the role

This position offers the chance to work in a global commodity trading environment, assessing risks, ensuring compliance and driving operational efficiencies across multiple jurisdictions. Based in Geneva, the auditor will travel internationally for approximately 25% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in interviews with commercial, risk management and key operational staff across main trading hubs internationally.
• Utilise advanced data‑analytics tools to extract insights and identify trends in financial and operational data.
• Execute detailed audit procedures, including risk‑focused transactional sampling.
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with company policies.
• Prepare and present clear, concise audit reports to senior management.
• Mentor junior audit staff and contribute to the development of internal audit methodology.

Required profile

• Degree in economics, finance, accounting or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIA, COSO or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in external and internal audit within a commodity trading house.
• Strong understanding of commodity trading instruments, derivatives, risk‑management frameworks (VaR, exposure) and trade lifecycle.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally (≈25%).
