Internship in Near Patient Care R&D (Data Pipelines & Analytics)

About the role

Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, Switzerland develops and maintains analysers for critical point-of-care settings. Within Near Patient Care R&D, the team makes sure that hardware and software work together with sensor and reagent technologies to deliver reliable diagnostic results. The internship offers a 12-month placement in a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, working alongside a young development team on data pipelines and data visualisation tools for blood gas analyzers. The planned start date is January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data solutions that meet their requirements
• Build, improve and maintain data processing pipelines
• Design and implement data models to support data analytics and reporting
• Design and implement data analytics tools and run quality assurance testing to ensure data accuracy and completeness
• Identify opportunities to improve data workflows and processes

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a university or completed a Master's degree within the last 12 months in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a related field
• Fluent English, written and spoken; German is a plus
• Team player able to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment
• Creative, persistent, driven, self-critical and eager to learn
• Able to communicate needs and results and to prioritise subtasks independently

Required skills

• Python (required); MATLAB is a plus
• Code written according to common best practices, clear and well documented
• GitLab and experience with collaborative codebases
• Databases (SQL, NoSQL) is a big plus
• App frameworks such as Dash or building/deploying GUI tools is a plus
• Agentic AI or LLM experience is a plus
