Internship in Near Patient Care R&D (Data Pipelines)

About the role

Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, Switzerland, develops and maintains analysers for critical point-of-care settings. Its Near Patient Care R&D team works with blood gas analyzers and seeks an enthusiastic student or intern to help improve data processing workflows. The internship lasts 12 months, starts in January 2027, and involves building, improving and maintaining data pipelines and data visualisation tools under close supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data solutions that meet their requirements
• Build, improve and maintain data processing pipelines
• Design and implement data models to support data analytics and reporting
• Design and implement data analytics tools and run quality assurance testing to ensure data accuracy and completeness
• Identify opportunities to improve data workflows and processes

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a university or completed a Master's degree within the last 12 months in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a related field
• Fluent English, written and spoken; German is a plus
• Team player able to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment
• Creative, persistent, self-critical and eager to learn

Required skills

• Python (required); MATLAB is a plus
• Code written according to common best practices, clear and well documented
• GitLab and experience with collaborative codebases
• Databases (SQL, noSQL) is a big plus
• App frameworks such as Dash or built/deployed GUI tools is a plus
• Agentic AI or LLM experience is a plus
