Internship in the Division on International Trade and Commodities

About the role

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) offers an unpaid, full-time internship in its Division on International Trade and Commodities (DITC), within the Office of the Director, based in Geneva. The internship is in-person, runs from 11 January 2027 to 10 June 2027 (six months) and involves five days a week (40 hours). It is supervised by the Chief of the Office of the Director and the DITC Communications Focal Point.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and edit content for public information materials such as news stories, newsletter articles, blogs and social media posts.
• Help produce social media plans and campaigns and explore digital outreach initiatives to raise online visibility of publications and events.
• Produce multimedia materials such as infographics, motion graphics, short videos, animated clips, presentation templates and event flyers.
• Contribute to the office's communications strategy and help organize the launch of publications and events.
• Identify key contacts and opportunities for strategic partnerships to strengthen communications.
• Assist in organizing conferences, seminars, press briefings and interviews, and prepare briefing materials for senior officials.
• Carry out assigned special projects and follow the UN internship administrative obligations.

Required profile

• Student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent) or enrolled in a master's or PhD programme, or a graduate with a second university degree or higher.
• Field of study preferably in journalism, marketing, public relations or communications.
• No professional work experience required.
• Fluent oral and written English; knowledge of French and/or Spanish is desirable.
• Computer literate and able to work with people from different cultural backgrounds.
