IT Programmer & Database Specialist (Consultant)

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme is seeking a consultant to provide specialised IT programming and database expertise for its electronic reporting systems (ERS) and related dashboards. The role is remote and supports the sixth reporting cycle of the Stockholm Convention and Basel Convention projects.

Key responsibilities

• Implement functional enhancements and bug fixes for the SC ERS and Reporting Dashboard.
• Update the Basel Convention Reporting Dashboard for improved performance and new data visualisations.
• Maintain and enhance the BC Import and Export Control Tool, including user‑friendliness improvements.
• Produce detailed technical documentation covering code changes, query edits, stored procedures, validation rules and configuration steps.
• Ensure all systems operate reliably across UN languages and meet the reporting deadline of 31 August 2026.

Required profile

• Proven experience in computer programming and database content management.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines and deliver high‑quality technical documentation.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with multilingual reporting environments.
