Key Account Manager – Defence Sector (Zurich)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Key Account Manager to join Hays’ Defence Department in Zurich. The role focuses on developing strategic relationships with defence clients, increasing market share and external headcount. You will work closely with the Department Manager and the wider team to deliver tailored workforce solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow relationships with key defence clients, positioning Hays as a preferred supplier.
• Serve as primary contact for client queries, job releases, and operational escalations.
• Drive service‑selling across the portfolio, identifying opportunities to expand Hays’ full‑service offering.
• Lead review meetings to align service delivery with client objectives and coordinate internal strategies.
• Develop the customer base, increase external headcount, and handle contract matters such as extensions, pricing and legal compliance.
• Collaborate with recruiters and care specialists to ensure candidates are sourced and external workforce is managed effectively.
• Engage with regional networks and locations to fill job requisitions from the client portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience in account management or key account development, preferably within recruitment or staffing.
• Strong commercial mindset with a track record of achieving revenue and headcount growth.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to act as the main point of contact for clients.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and regional networks.
• Proactive, results‑oriented attitude with a focus on long‑term partnership growth.
