Lab Automation Consultant

About the role

A pharma and life science IT service provider based in Basel, with more than 30 years of experience delivering state-of-the-art projects for international customers, is looking for a Lab Automation Consultant. Consultants work from home or on customer premises. The mission is to support the implementation, operation, qualification and maintenance of lab automation systems, chromatography data systems and LIMS/LES systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support lab technicians and scientists in installing and configuring the digital lab (lab automation, LIMS connectivity)
• Configure and script instrument connectivity solutions and services
• Perform installation qualifications (IQ)
• Maintain software, configuration, qualification and database documentation

Required profile

• Education: lab technician (apprenticeship) or Bachelor or Master degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Chemistry or another life science field; an affinity for laboratory informatics solutions is important
• Some years of practical experience in industry or academia, ideally in installing, qualifying or supporting lab automation solutions
• Pharma experience is vital
• Fluent English is mandatory; sound German or French is an advantage
• Ability to explain work to non-IT lab staff and to adapt to research or QC environments

Required skills

• Familiarity with commercial lab automation systems (LIMS, ELN, LES) and/or Chromatography Data Systems such as Empower or Chromeleon
• PL/SQL, Pipeline Pilot and .NET
• Agile work in business and IT projects
• Knowledge of the regulated pharma environment (GXP, GMP, GLP) is a plus
