Lab Operations Associate

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated lab in Lausanne where AI agents run biology experiments, and is hiring a Lab Operations Associate to keep the physical lab running smoothly behind the software and hardware stack. The role is hands-on, in the lab, working closely with the Lab Manager and the scientists, and is based on-site in Lausanne.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the lab stocked: receive deliveries, unpack them, put them in the right freezer at the right temperature, and keep the inventory system accurate; flag items running low.
• Handle day-to-day ordering: place orders, follow up on late ones and resolve incorrect deliveries.
• Manage shipping in and out: customer samples, reagents and equipment, cold chain, dry ice, customs paperwork and courier relationships.
• Support the science team hands-on: reconstitute and aliquote proteins, prepare buffers, handle plates and track materials in the lab software, spending part of the week at the bench.
• Coordinate instrument servicing, calibration and repairs with vendors, keep the maintenance schedule up to date and get an engineer on site quickly when something breaks.
• Keep the lab safe and organized: chemical inventory, waste disposal, safety compliance and general housekeeping.
• Keep the office and team running: supplies, workspace, new-starter setups and occasional team events.
• Help set up the new lab space as the company expands.

Required profile

• Hands-on lab experience: a degree, apprenticeship, technician role or a couple of years in a research or biotech lab; competence and reliability matter more than years logged.
• Genuinely organized, able to track many small items at once and spot problems before they happen.
• Comfortable getting hands dirty, such as unpacking boxes, moving dry ice and reorganizing a freezer.
• Tech-savvy and curious, willing to learn the company's software and AI tooling and to automate parts of their own work.
• Enjoys a startup environment where priorities change and processes are not fully documented.
• French and English both useful, as suppliers and couriers often work in French.
