Lead Internal Auditor – Banking

About the role

Our financial client is looking for a Lead Internal Auditor to join their Basel‑based team on a permanent basis. You will own the full audit lifecycle, from risk‑based planning through execution and reporting, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and communicate audit engagements, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
• Draft clear, impactful audit reports and present findings to the Head of Group Internal Audit, the Board of Directors, or other decision‑makers.
• Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and participate in special investigations and projects.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience as a Lead Auditor in banking (internal or external audit).
• Certified banking professional, university degree, CIA, CFA or equivalent; CPA qualification is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Swiss regulatory requirements and experience in at least two areas such as Operations, Risk, Credit, Payments, Treasury or Trading.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with Avaloq (advantageous).
• Fluent English with excellent written and presentation abilities; additional language skills (German, French, Spanish) are a plus.
