Learning & Development Manager – Basel

About the role

The Learning & Development Manager will lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of training programs for Viking’s onboard staff, ensuring high standards of guest service, leadership and employee well‑being. Reporting to the Director of Learning & Development, the role is based in the Basel office and works closely with ship‑based operations and the broader L&D team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging face‑to‑face learning programs onboard covering guest excellence, leadership, behavioral and professional skills, company culture, onboarding and employee well‑being.
• Develop and implement pre‑ and post‑training initiatives to reinforce learning outcomes and promote a culture of continuous learning.
• Partner with onboard operations to assess learning needs and continuously enhance training programs.
• Design and deliver train‑the‑trainer seminars for permanent and temporary onboard trainers, ensuring consistent delivery.
• Collaborate with L&D team members to ensure alignment of content, messaging, methodology and delivery across all programs.
• Support the development of digital learning solutions in partnership with the Digital Learning Manager.
• Contribute to learning initiatives for office‑based employees.
• Oversee training logistics in collaboration with L&D and onboard operations to ensure well‑coordinated sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Learning & Development and employee training within an international hospitality, cruise line or retail environment.
• Operational background such as Hotel Manager, Cruise Director or Program Director with proven experience training hospitality staff.
