Legal Collections Specialist – Debt Recovery & Enforcement

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Legal Collections Specialist to join a leading Swiss financial institution. You will manage a portfolio of complex debt recovery cases, ensuring compliance with Swiss regulations while maximizing recoveries. This hybrid role is based in the Zurich area and offers the chance to work closely with internal teams, courts and public authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of legal collection and recovery cases from initiation to final resolution.
• Initiate, coordinate and monitor debt enforcement actions in line with the Swiss Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Act (SchKG).
• Prepare and review legal documentation, maintaining accurate case files.
• Monitor legal proceedings, deadlines and enforcement actions to ensure timely execution.
• Negotiate payment arrangements, settlement agreements and amicable solutions where appropriate.
• Serve as the primary contact for debtors, legal representatives, collection partners, courts and public authorities.
• Collaborate with Customer Service, Credit Risk, Compliance and Operations to achieve recovery targets.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of collection processes and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in legal collections, debt recovery or enforcement within the Swiss market.
• Strong practical knowledge of the Swiss Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Act (SchKG) and related recovery processes.
• Proven experience managing debt enforcement, attachment and insolvency proceedings.
• Background in banking, consumer finance, leasing, insurance, debt recovery or legal services.
• Ability to independently manage a case portfolio and make informed recovery decisions.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of the Swiss Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Act (SchKG).
