Legal & Compliance Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Legal & Compliance Officer to join IG Bank’s Geneva team. Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, you will act as a trusted second‑line partner, handling day‑to‑day legal matters, supporting regulatory interactions and strengthening the bank’s compliance framework in a fast‑moving digital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide second‑line compliance oversight, design and execute controls, and conduct thematic reviews across regulatory risk areas.
• Monitor Swiss and EU regulatory developments, assess impact on the bank and maintain the compliance monitoring programme, policies and procedures.
• Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management and the Board, and support internal and external audits.
• Advise Account Opening and Onboarding teams on AML/KYC requirements, review high‑risk client files and support the development of AML policies and transaction monitoring.
• Coordinate responses to requests from FINMA, the Swiss National Bank and other authorities, prepare regulatory notifications and maintain a register of interactions.
• Deliver day‑to‑day legal support on banking law, financial market law (FinSA, FMIA, BA), contract law and regulatory matters; draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and manage the contract repository.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Swiss banking and financial market legislation (FinSA, FMIA, BA) and experience with FINMA regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience in AML/KYC compliance, including handling high‑risk profiles and PEPs.
• Ability to draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and maintain legal documentation.
• Excellent analytical skills and the capacity to work independently as a second‑line partner.
• Fluent in English; French proficiency is an advantage.
