Legal Counsel – Compliance & Commercial (EMEA & LATAM)

About the role

embecta, a global medical‑device leader, is seeking a Legal Counsel based in Canton Vaud to independently manage compliance, privacy and commercial legal matters across EMEA and LATAM. The role combines strategic advisory with hands‑on implementation of policies and contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage commercial compliance across EMEA & LATAM, develop local policies and compliance frameworks in coordination with Global Legal and Compliance SMEs.
• Review submissions related to healthcare professionals, institutions and government officials to ensure adherence to company policies.
• Serve as regional point of contact for Global Compliance, creating templates and guidance for agreements, events, consultancy and sponsorships.
• Design and deliver training for business partners on compliance initiatives.
• Lead third‑party due‑diligence, anti‑bribery and anti‑corruption programs, and ensure regional training.
• Draft, edit and negotiate contracts for services, consultancy, procurement and regulatory matters.
• Support data‑privacy strategy, advise on privacy laws and assist with training.
• Monitor regional regulatory developments, identify risks and coordinate actions with Global SMEs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department, preferably in Life Sciences.
• Self‑starter able to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to simplify complex concepts.
• Strong relationship‑building skills across functions and cultures.
• Highly organized, analytical and detail‑oriented.

Required skills

• Proficient in the full Microsoft Office package.
• Fluent Business English (spoken and written); additional languages such as German, French or Spanish are a plus.
