Mechanical Design Engineer – Fluid Dynamics Expert

About the role

The Liquid Handling Team in Rotkreuz develops fluidic, pipetting and dosing solutions for diagnostic instruments. As a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in fluid dynamics, you will evaluate new technologies, create cost‑efficient fluidic concepts and support IVD product development from simulation through experimental validation.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and assess emerging liquid‑handling technologies, define parameter settings and verify pipetting performance.
• Support design engineers by providing CFD‑based optimisation of components and validate simulations with hands‑on experiments.
• Lead feasibility studies to meet technical requirements while minimising risk.
• Design, build and commission test benches, program test sequences and collaborate with mechanics, electronics and software teams.

Required profile

• Completed Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on fluid dynamics.
• 1‑3 years of experience using CFD tools for complex fluid flow simulation, including mesh generation and post‑processing.
• Strong analytical mindset, structured problem‑solving approach and enthusiasm for experimental fluid dynamics.
• Proficiency in Python and C# for developing test workflows and willingness to use modern AI tools such as Gemini or Claude.
• Fluent written and spoken German and English.
