MSAT Process Specialist

About the role

The MSAT Process Specialist of DSP at Lonza AG is based in Visp, Switzerland, in a fully site-based role. The specialist supports the transfer, scale-up and validation of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, providing technical expertise and hands-on support to ensure robust and efficient production. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and oversee process validation activities in downstream unit operations.
• Support the transfer of new manufacturing processes from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring successful scale-up and validation.
• Support root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Develop and revise process documentation, including process descriptions, validation protocols and reports, SOPs and technical reports.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing operations for troubleshooting and continuous process improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering and R&D, and support regulatory submissions.
• Analyse data and trend process performance to identify areas for improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in process development, MSAT or manufacturing support within the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of downstream (purification) manufacturing processes.
• Experience with process scale-up, technology transfer and validation.
• Knowledge of cGMP regulations and quality systems.
