Multimedia Intern – Communications and External Relations

About the role

Three unpaid, full-time multimedia intern positions are available in the Communications and External Relations (CER) office of the UNCTAD Office of the Secretary-General in Geneva. The CER team produces communication materials such as news articles, videos, infographics, brochures, webpages and social media content. Interns work five days a week (40 hours) under the supervision of a senior colleague, in person for six months, with two possible start dates: 1 June 2026 and 15 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Create, edit and produce multimedia content (videos, podcasts, infographics, social media posts) for UNCTAD's platforms
• Support live coverage of events and conferences through photography, videography and audio recording
• Edit and post-produce content using Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects and Canva
• Create engaging social media content and support digital campaigns
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver accurate and timely outputs, and help archive multimedia assets
• Take part in team meetings and brainstorming sessions, and perform other related duties

Required profile

• University degree in media, communications, graphic design, journalism, marketing, public relations, international studies, photography or a closely related field
• Student in the final year of a bachelor's, master's or PhD programme, or having completed one
• Fluent English, spoken and written; knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage
• Ability to interact respectfully with people of different cultural backgrounds
• No professional work experience required

Required skills

• Proficiency in multimedia tools and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva)
• Familiarity with social media platforms and trends (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube)
