About the role

The Institute of Modern History at Academia Sinica seeks an open‑rank researcher to join its tenure‑track programme. This position focuses on independent research in modern history and is exempt from teaching duties.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research in modern history and produce scholarly publications.
• Develop and submit research proposals in line with institute priorities.
• Collaborate with senior scholars and contribute to research projects.
• Present findings at conferences, seminars, and academic forums.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in modern history or a closely related field, or a confirmed Ph.D. award by 31 August 2027.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Chinese for academic research and communication.
• Compliance with Academia Sinica regulations and eligibility criteria (e.g., not a PRC citizen).

Required skills

• Advanced academic research methodology.
• Strong written and oral communication in Chinese and English.
• Ability to produce high‑quality scholarly articles and book chapters.
