Part‑time Arabic Language Teacher

About the role

The United Nations Office at Geneva seeks a part‑time Arabic Language Teacher to deliver general and specialised Arabic courses to staff, both in‑person and online. The role supports the Centre for Learning and Multilingualism’s mission to promote linguistic balance across the Secretariat.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Arabic general and specialised courses, in‑person or online.
• Prepare and update learning materials and manage the technical setup for classes.
• Administer and maintain the CLM Moodle platform, including course setup and monitoring student activity.
• Provide group and individual feedback, advise on language development.
• Assess, grade and record assignments, tests and exams according to UN language standards.
• Handle administrative duties such as attendance tracking and communication with students.
• Participate in meetings, collaborate with colleagues and contribute to group work sessions.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in language teaching, applied linguistics or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum four years teaching Arabic as a foreign language to adults, with at least three recent years in curriculum development, exam design or teacher training.
• Expert level competence in Arabic (oral and written) and working knowledge of English and French.
• Experience using e‑learning tools and learning management systems such as Moodle.

What we offer

• Payment per teaching hour, with a maximum of 12 teaching hours per week.
• No medical insurance or pension allowance included in the contract.
• Classes held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva or delivered online.
