Part‑Time Chinese Language Teacher

About the role

The United Nations Office at Geneva seeks a part‑time Chinese language teacher to deliver general and specialised courses to staff, supporting the Secretariat’s multilingual mandate. Teaching may be conducted in‑person at the Palais des Nations or online.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Chinese language courses (face‑to‑face and virtual) and prepare/up‑date learning materials in line with the LTP curriculum.
• Maintain the CLM Moodle platform, set up courses, monitor student activity, and upload post‑lesson content.
• Provide individual and group feedback, assess assignments, tests and exams, and record attendance and grades.
• Participate in meetings, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to group work sessions.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in language teaching, applied linguistics or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum four years of experience teaching Chinese to adult learners in a multicultural setting, with at least three recent years in curriculum development or language assessment.
• Expert level competence in Chinese (oral and written) per the UN Language Framework; knowledge of English and French required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Moodle learning‑management system.
• Experience using e‑learning and online collaboration tools for language instruction.

What we offer

• Payment per teaching hour, with assignments of 1‑3 courses (up to 12 teaching hours per week).
• Contract per term without medical insurance or pension allowance.
