Patent Specialist Nutrition & Health

About the role

As a Patent Specialist in Nutrition & Health, you will help identify, protect and manage innovations emerging from Nestlé’s research and development activities. You will work closely with patent counsels, scientists, innovation teams and business partners across Nutrition & Health. This role offers the chance to take ownership of IP matters and deliver meaningful results at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Support protection and management of Nutrition & Health innovations throughout the patent lifecycle, from invention capture to portfolio maintenance.
• Conduct patentability assessments, prior‑art searches and freedom‑to‑operate analyses to guide research and business decisions.
• Prepare patent landscape and competitive‑intelligence insights to strengthen understanding of the external innovation environment.
• Collaborate with scientists, inventors and innovation teams across Nestlé Research and Nutrition & Health R&D.
• Assist with patent filing and prosecution activities together with experienced patent counsels and external attorneys.
• Build practical IP expertise through mentoring, hands‑on learning and multidisciplinary projects.

Required profile

• Strong scientific foundation in life sciences, nutrition, food science, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, pharmacy or related disciplines.
• Analytical thinking to understand complex technologies and translate scientific information into clear patent‑related insights.
• Interest in intellectual property and innovation, with curiosity and precision.
• Proactive collaboration with scientists, inventors, patent professionals and business partners while managing multiple priorities.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
