About the role
Franklin Switzerland is seeking a full‑time post‑doctoral researcher to join the SNSF‑funded DIVIDE project under Professor Oliver Strijbis. The position starts on 1 September 2026 (or later by agreement) and is funded for four years.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a working package investigating the impact of secession referenda on inter‑ethnic relations.
- Design, conduct and analyse quantitative research on political behaviour and nationalism.
- Teach one university course per semester.
- Supervise and coordinate a small research team.
- Publish research findings in international journals and present at conferences.
Required profile
- PhD in political science or a closely related discipline.
- Strong academic record with internationally visible publications or third‑party research funding.
- Demonstrated interest in political behaviour, nationalism and quantitative research.
- Ability to work independently and lead a small team.
- Fluent English and willingness to achieve basic Italian (A1) within two years.
- Additional language skills relevant to the project are a plus.
Required skills
- Quantitative research methods (e.g., statistical analysis, data modelling).
