Precious Metals Trade Finance Officer

About the role

Trafigura is looking for a dedicated Trade Finance Officer to join its Geneva team. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, supporting large trading volumes of precious metals and ensuring financing solutions are cost‑effective and innovative.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a strong understanding of LBMA and COMEX standards, vaulting processes, and international bullion markets.
• Manage unallocated/allocated accounts, lease agreements, precious metal repos and perform weekly mark‑to‑market of stock positions.
• Process payments, run cash positions with banks, and cover sales risk through banks or insurance where needed.
• Review, issue and negotiate Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, borrowing bases, bilateral facilities and repurchase agreements.
• Analyse financing requirements, negotiate with banks, monitor utilisation and optimise financing structures.
• Prepare invoices and original documents for documentary L/Cs, and oversee risk assessment of physical commodity transactions.
• Develop new banking relationships, acquire lines, and support junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a trading company or financial institution with solid trade finance knowledge.
• Fluent English and proven expertise in the precious metals market.
• Ability to handle complex transactions and negotiate non‑standard banking solutions.
• Strong understanding of operational risks and Incoterms.
