Process Expert MSAT (m/f/d) - Mammalian Cell Culture

About the role

Lonza, a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents, is looking for a Process Expert MSAT (m/f/d) in its USP unit in Visp. You will be responsible for the successful transfer, scale-up, supervision and optimisation of mammalian cell culture processes. As an experienced professional, you act as an expert in process science and manufacturing, contribute to the development of the MSAT toolbox and share manufacturing responsibility as a long-term process owner.

Key responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams on technology transfers (process design and scale-up) and timely implementation at manufacturing scale, covering the whole product lifecycle from planning through to project completion.
• Act as the interface between the process donor (external customer, process development) and operations, ensuring process scalability and manufacturability.
• Apply formal processes and tools to manage information transfer, process-related risks and change control during technology transfer.
• Resolve process issues arising during manufacturing in line with regulatory requirements, including 24/7 on-call duty.
• Carry out GMP risk analysis for manufacturing processes.
• Interact directly with customers during tech transfer, campaign preparation, execution and closure, including daily reporting of batch status and performance.
• Compile process-related deviations, change requests and campaign reports on time and drive continuous improvement of process performance.

Required profile

• PhD preferred; Master's or Bachelor's degree in biotechnology, chemical engineering or a related discipline.
• At least five years of industry experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or process development, with a strong preference for expertise in mammalian cell-based processes.
• Understanding of GMP and bioprocess technology.
• Very good communication skills and ability to interact with customers and project organisations.
• Fluency in English.
