Process & Machinery Safety Engineer

About the role

As a Process & Machinery Safety Engineer at Nestlé’s Product Technology Center for Coffee, you will champion safe‑by‑design principles across research, development and industrial projects. You will work closely with engineers, factory teams, safety professionals and external partners to embed safety into every stage of product and equipment development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead process and machinery safety initiatives to strengthen safe‑by‑design practices in R&D and production.
• Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP and ATEX studies, and ensure timely follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Develop and roll out coffee‑process safety guidelines, aligning factories, engineering teams and subject‑matter experts.
• Provide governance and structure for multi‑site safety projects, coordinating audits, reviews and document updates.
• Coach cross‑functional teams on the consistent application of safety standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background with experience in industrial environments and interaction with factories, OEM suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to apply risk assessment methodologies and functional/machinery safety principles to complex systems (thermal processes, fluid systems, automated equipment).
• Project‑management skills to coordinate CAPEX projects, track progress and keep implementations on schedule.
• Excellent influencing and workshop‑facilitation abilities, especially in HAZOP sessions.
• Fluent English communication, capable of translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
