Professors of Civic Architecture (2 positions)

About the role

ETH Zurich’s Department of Architecture invites applications for two full‑time professorships in Civic Architecture. Based at the Institute of Design and Architecture (IEA), the positions focus on designing and researching spaces that serve diverse communities in contemporary urban contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Teach design studios and lectures in Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, including supervision of Master’s theses.
• Develop and lead a cutting‑edge research agenda on civic buildings, resilient and inclusive urban spaces.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration within the Department of Architecture, the Institute of Landscape and Urban Studies, and external public agencies or civil‑society partners.
• Guide a research group, contribute to departmental development, and engage in public outreach.

Required profile

• Substantial built oeuvre and proven competence in high‑quality civic‑relevant architecture.
• University degree in architecture, professional accreditation, and significant research and teaching experience.
• Deep knowledge of urban history, governance, legal frameworks, and sustainable design principles.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and capacity to contribute beyond the discipline.
