Programme Officer – Making Trade Happen (Temporary)

About the role

The International Trade Centre (ITC) seeks a Programme Officer to lead the "Making Trade Happen" project and support other initiatives within the Sector Competitiveness Section (SEC) of the Division of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions (DECI). This temporary full‑time position is based in Geneva and reports to the Chief of SEC and the Director of DECI.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate programmes and projects, ensuring timely corrective actions.
• Conduct consulting assignments, facilitate workshops, and assist clients in creating actionable change plans.
• Research, analyse and synthesize information from diverse sources for reports and policy briefs.
• Coordinate policy development, surveys, data‑collection tools, and interpret findings.
• Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analysis sections, and inputs for publications.
• Provide substantive support for meetings, conferences and outreach activities, including agenda setting and participant identification.
• Lead or contribute to complex field missions, guiding external consultants and drafting mission summaries.
• Manage budget‑related activities, including programme preparation, progress reporting and financial statements.
• Visualise data through graphs, charts and tables to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in international trade, development studies, economics or a related field.
• Experience in programme management, policy analysis or trade‑related consulting.
• Strong analytical, research and report‑writing abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
