About the role
The Programme Specialist (Safeguarding) will lead Education Cannot Wait’s safeguarding agenda, ensuring partner organisations meet the highest standards of child protection. Reporting to the Chief of Education, the role combines assessment, incident management and capacity‑building across UNICEF’s programme delivery and quality teams.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) assessments using the UN Common PSEA assessment tool.
- Manage ECW’s response to safeguarding incidents and concerns involving partner organisations.
- Prepare and submit safeguarding reports to donors and brief internal stakeholders.
- Develop guidance materials and lead outreach activities on safeguarding best practices.
- Support the design and quality assurance of programme interventions.
- Collaborate with Finance, Risk & Operations, Evidence, Results & Reporting, and Partnerships teams.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or equivalent in International Development, Law, Social Work, Public Administration, Gender Studies or related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in programme management, PSEA, child safeguarding, gender‑based violence risk mitigation, accountability to affected populations or safeguarding incident management.
- Proven experience working in humanitarian or development contexts with partner organisations.
