Project Buyer

About the role

The Project Buyer will lead purchasing activities for new product development and improvement projects within EMS, a global medical-device manufacturer. Acting as the bridge between R&D, industrialisation, supply chain and external suppliers, you will ensure timely delivery of goods and services while optimising cost, quality and lead-time.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in product development, industrialisation and improvement projects from the early stages.
• Analyse technical and functional requirements and define appropriate purchasing strategies.
• Assess purchasing impacts such as cost, supplier capabilities, risks and lead times for new products.
• Identify, evaluate and qualify suppliers in collaboration with commodity buyers and internal stakeholders.
• Manage international supplier consultations, RFQs and negotiations, securing commercial, contractual and logistical terms aligned with project goals.
• Support implementation of supplier and logistics agreements and monitor compliance.
• Contribute to rationalising and expanding the supplier panel, building long-term relationships.
• Monitor supply-chain risks (capacity, quality, geopolitical, lead-time) and drive continuous improvement of supplier performance.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, industrialisation, quality, logistics and finance teams throughout project phases.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and operational improvements.

Required profile

• Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in project purchasing, strategic sourcing or supply chain within an industrial environment.
• Experience in an international and technical setting is a strong advantage.
• Strong negotiation and supplier-management capabilities.
