R&D Internship in Software Engineering and Data Analysis

About the role

Join the Product Evaluation and Qualification team at Hitachi Energy Semiconductors as an R&D intern. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, data analysis, and semiconductor testing, helping to modernise internal workflows and improve engineering efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement software tools that streamline engineering processes.
• Develop Python scripts for data processing, automation of repetitive tasks, and generation of reports.
• Integrate and apply AI‑based methods (e.g., LLMs, APIs, local models) to enhance data analysis and information extraction.
• Work with diverse data sources such as measurement data, logs, and reports, converting them into structured, usable formats.
• Support the setup and integration of software components in a local development environment.
• Collaborate with engineers to identify improvement opportunities and translate them into practical solutions.
• Troubleshoot, optimise, and document tools to ensure reliability and usability.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree program.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work independently on technical tasks.
• Good written and spoken English for clear documentation and presentation of results.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Data processing and analysis.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Basic understanding of machine‑learning/AI concepts or experience with AI tools such as LLMs, APIs, or local models.
