Regional Lead – Latin America & Caribbean (Consultant)

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is seeking a consultant to serve as Regional Lead for Latin America and the Caribbean. This four‑month remote assignment will support the sustainable finance hub by strengthening the regional network and advancing the integration of sustainability across financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen UNEP FI’s regional network of banks, insurers, development banks and regulators in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Promote the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking and the Principles for Sustainable Insurance among member institutions.
• Facilitate outreach and engagement with public and private sector stakeholders to broaden the Initiative’s impact.
• Ensure UN core values—including human‑rights based approach, gender equality and “leaving no one behind”—are embedded in all activities.
• Provide strategic advice and support to help institutions integrate sustainability into their operations, products and services.

Required profile

• Proven experience in sustainable finance, responsible banking or sustainable insurance.
• Familiarity with the financial landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, consultancy setting.
• Strong understanding of UN values and gender‑equality principles.
